א) ראשית היא עזיבת החטא, ויפר יש א"ע מכל החבלים המביאים לידי כן, אדרבה יעשה לעצמו גדרים וסייגים, והגדרים והסייגים אין צריך לבארם כי כבר מבואר בשלחן ערוך ובספרי מוסר באר היטב. <br />

ב) '''שיעשה''' לעצמו מידי יום ביומו זמן להתבודד בינו לבין קונו, ויתחרט מאוד על העבר ויבכה מקרב הלב ולב עמוק בדמעות שליש, ויתחנן מלפני הבורא ית"ש, וזה רק על איזה זמן, אבל שאר כל היום יהי' בשמחה ונחקור שהשי"ת בוודאי יעזור לו<br />

ג) '''שירבה''' בתורה ובתפלה ובצדקה כפי כחו, ויהי' בענוה בפני כל, ואל יבוש מפני המלעיגים עליו. זהו עיקר התשובה, ואם ככה יעשה אז ושב ורפא לו, אבל מה ששייך להסרת כתמי הנפש דבר זה מבואר בסה"ק באריכות, וכ"א לפי דרכו בקודש, בזה לא אוכל לדבר מאומה כעת, כי זה תלוי במה שהוא אדם, לכן עצתי שיבוא לביתי ואדבר עמו פה אל פה אז אוכל בעזהשי"ת ליעץ לו על זה, ועד אז יעשה כנ"ל וישמח בתורה ובתפלה.<br />

ומ"ש שכבר אחר היאוש, ממחשבה זו ירחק יותר מן הבורח מן הארי, כי כבר מבואר בספה"ק כי מי שאינו מאמין שהקב"ה מוחל למכעיסיו אפילו שהכעיסו עד אין שיעור, מברך ח"ו בכל יום ברכה לבטלה ,,חנון המרבה לסלוח", כי הבורא ית"ש הוא מרבה לסלוח עד אין שיעור. וכבר ביארו חכז"ל גודל מעלת בעלי תשובה, ובמקום שבעלי תשובה עומדים אין צדוקים גמורים יכולים לעמוד (ברכות דף ל"ד ע"ב) והרמב"ם בהלכות תשובה (פ"ז ה"ד) ג"כ מבאר באריכות גודל מעלתם. <br />
